Best advice I was ever given was to spray my feet with deodorant before putting on my socks when its cold out. Keeps your feet from sweating which is typically the culprit in cold weather.

Anyone have any recommendation on a good quality sock since we are on the subject?

Cold feet? This will help.......wear one pair THIN socks and a wool pair on top. Your boots need to be loose enough to allow some space for the warmth of your body to insulate between the fabric of the boot. Make sense? I know, loose boots aren't great for walking but you can't have everything ;-) Hope it helps.

I deer hunt in Minnesota and can confirm that a tight boot is your enemy.
I second the idea of a light sock like a dress sock and then a wool sock.
Cold feet will take you out of the game quick.
I would love to have the heated insoles but I would never hear the end of it from the natives and I'm not too big on hunting gadgets.
