    What are these??

I believe I have seen this on here before but my search function isn't working for some reason. I shot a buck this morning and when I was cutting off the skull, these came out from up towards the brain. Deer still okay to eat or no???

Blot fly larvae, I believe , they are transmitted threw the nostrils via a fly. Deer should be fine to eat.

Cool, says there is no link to show they really effect the deer or venison. Thanks, first time ever I have harvested a deer in both Texas and Oklahoma during the same year. Eye guard never grew on right side so good 7 I guess. This deer came from southeastern Oklahoma

When sauteed in a little olive oil and some crushed garlic they make a fine appetizer. Put them on toothpicks along with your favorite hard cheese.

I'm glad that a deer that has them are still good to eat. My wife shot a nice 8 last year in Medina county. I put the head in a garbage bag and the directly into the freezer with the intention of doing a euro on it.
We had eaten more than half of that deer by the time I got around to doing the euro. Right or wrong I use a pressure washer to get a lot of the mess, brain, and sinuses out. That's when I found a couple in the sinuses.

Man, that's a big bugar right there. They're harmless, meat is safe.
