Love how folks put it with such easy " go to get one "
---- Normally not NEAR that simple.

Been to many ranches, guided 2, had my own place with free range axis as well. Lot's of time knowing one of the MOST ELUSIVE and secretive, smart, and wild deer.
Everyone that comes to the ranch for exotics - it has to be AXIS first out of their list to shoot. It's a amazing animal all the way around. Meat / horns / cape - and the challenge of trying to get on them, especially with a bow.
I think the only time they can come EASY is at ranches that either have ABSOLUTE LOADS OF numbers free ranging, and low pressure from those lease hunters.
Orr............... smaller acreage, and so POWER LOADED with them and other animals they are just about stepping on one another.
orrr,................. rifle shooting at some decent distance.
Any big axis hunter knows a mature axis buck is much like the elusive, smart white tail buck - jussssssssssssssssssssstt even more hoped up on METH AND MOUNTAIN DEW !!
One ting of a branch, scrap of the metal hunting platform, un-natural movement while hunting -- and all you will see is a dust coud and eventually out in the woods a high pitched BARK, just to rub in your blunder that you are BUSTED !!!!!!!!!!!

        Good luck out there !

If you are in Sanger, the Diamond C might be a good choice.

Buffs place or Diamond C. I would go to Buffs myself just to meet him and his hound!
