    Blew it again!

After shooting and not recovering the biggest buck of my life in October, I came up to Kansas for a little redemption. Fast forward to this morning and after passing several 130"s and 140"s I had a great symmetrical 10 come in. I had sat all morning with bow in hand in 20 degree temps, 20 mph north wind, and 30 ft up. Finally had to warm up, so I hung my bow and put my hands in my hand warmer pouch. After 10 min. But still freezing, I took out my phone for the first time all morning and texted the old lady to find out how her work dinner went last night. Boom, somehow the 10 had managed to get right in my shooting lane at 25! It was a race to get drawn before he cleared the lane. Tucked phone, picked up bow, and it took me one to many times for my cold digits to find the loop with my release. I drew and he stepped, only shot I had was through small limbs. So I watched him walk out and I weeped inside! Been a tough year, but how many times are you going to get two 150" free range deer inside 25 yrds in the same season?

I feel your pain. Keep your head up. No doubt he will be back.

Yes sir , heck been 9 years since I seen a 150, and some of my carry over bucks are 6+.

Much worse to have never had the shots. Keep practicing to make your shots second nature. Like a defensive back, erase your memory of getting beaten. As Roger Raglin says, hunting can be tough, and will frustrate you, but he wouldn't have it any other way. Give the deer some credit- sometimes he wins too. I know, it still stings.

At least you were in the presence of deer like that man. The kills will come.

Actually I'd LOVE to just see a 150 right now.
I know it stings though. Look at it this way, at least you were responsible enough to not force a bad shot and wound a 150 and then not recover it. THEN you really would be feeling sick.
