New Laptop help

Guys I'm looking to get a new laptop to finish up data analysis for my Masters degree and for daily use. I've been seriously looking at a Mac but not sure if it's worth the extra coin.

Only requirements is that I can run Program R and QGIS.

What says the green screen geek squad?

A lot of good advice given in that thread overall.

if you have specific software requirements, i would recommend going windows... A Surface Pro 4, with the dock station and a good monitor would be really hard to beat, as long as you do not need to do a bunch of rendering(CAD, etc)
