My grandad was there during WW2....He hated the French that they were liberating more than he did the Germans they were killing. Until his dying day, he hated the French. Glad to see them kicking a little ***, we sure gave up enough men 70+ years ago saving theirs.
I can echo this as well. My grandfather (served during WWII) disliked the French WAY more than he disliked the Germans.

Syria. ISIS/ISIL, both in Iraq and Syria. But on a larger scale than we were previously, which was doing a fair amount of nothing. We should have turned Raqqa into a parking lot.

And honestly, US air strikes will accomplish nothing without boots on the ground. Special forces groups can't hold territory either. But thats about to change if the following article is true.

VLADIMIR Putin is preparing to send 150,000 troops to Syria in a bid to wipe out the evil Islamic State once and for all as he hints at joining the West following the Paris attacks.

Yeah, they met about this yesterday.

ISIS is a millenial doomsday cult. They believe they are going to be confronted by an army led by "the Antichrist" as it says in the Qur'an. Their aim is to goad the US and its allies into attacking them in order to bring on the apocalypse. That's what all the gory execution videos and horrific stories are intended for according to many experts. Massive military action against ISIS is vital to their recruitment strategy and to maintain their self-delusion of being part of the events leading to the end of the world.
Using targeted drone strikes to take out key figures while refusing to send ground troops is a way to make us Westerners accept that some justice has been served while not having to play into the cards of ISIS too much.

And honestly, if you want to watch another quagmire, because the new rules of war are what they are, keep cheering. This is going to be a mess.

I don't know what the solution is for Syria to be completely honest. Its a 3 way civil war, and people from that part of the world have demonstrated that the only thing they tend to understand and listen to is a leader who rules with an iron fist.

I expect the Russians to wipe through Syria, and then get bogged down in an endless guerilla war, just like Iraq was. That is unless that gives Assad the boost he needs to take back the country. But don't expect our POTUS to do anything to help Assad in the slightest. The Syrian civil war came about as part of the Arab spring years back, which he verbally supported.

Democracy is great and all, if you have people who are willing to pay for it with their lives.

Basically this. We traded tyranny for chaos starting in 2003. And the Russians won't wipe thru anything. That's a fallacy that has been repeated for way too long.

I did see a video on cnbc saying we are attacking their oil delivery trucks to try to cut off their cash flow. I asked about that on the other thread and never saw a response before it was deleted. But glad we are going after their pocketbooks too. Cut off their income and bomb the crap out of them where they have to hide in their tunnels.
i also heard, can't remember where now that U.S. is feeding them intel also...

With the thick accent I thought he said he had to go pee so I walked to go outside after waiting a minute and realized he locked me in the store Once I realized he said pray I sat back and opened up a bag of pork rinds and waited on him to come back. Needless to say I didn't get the sale
We had some Allied officers at the guest BOQ at Ft Benning in 1982 that were from Saudi. I was going through IMPC. They would get up at 5AM in the morning and pray and wake those of us that were still asleep ,up. Add to that the El Salvadoran Officer Candidates that stayed up until 3AM blaring music, and we didn't get much rest.
