Hogs ...Got'em...how to get them in the trap

As you can see got plenty...what bait to get them in the trap...They like the corn around feeder but will not go in the trap to get it!

We've caught them using a bucket of corn with beer that's let sit in the sun for about a week.

Also heard raspberry kool aid works

Also try making a small corn trail into the trap.

      Good luck....It can be frustrating!

Sour corn or any of the above and give it plenty of time

Don't allow the corn to be thrown outside of the trap very much.

Your best bet is to build a huge trap. Studies have shown that trapping is only effective if you can get over 80% of the sounder. I'd look into building a big corral trap. Leave it open until they get used to coming in. Then sit over the trap with a manual trigger. Get as many as you can.

What kind of trap gate are you using?

I've used a five gallon bucket with lid, fill with corn, drill 1" holes alone the the top. 2-2 liters of strawberry soda and a small package of yeast. Yeast and the soda speed up the fermenting process and the 1" holes drilled in the bucket allow the hogs to roll it around just enough to get the corn out. Also prevents coons from eating all your corn as well. Hope this helps. Good luck

get a 5 gallon bucked hafe full with corn and soak it in diesel
and red diesel works the best!

This is what has worked for me. Nothing else really did plus the diesel will keep the birds and the coons out of it.

The simple way is just corn, water, yeast (or the beer) in a bucket. Close the lid and let set for week and a half or so. You don't have to ask for an exact length of fermentation, you'll know when it's ready! All that pricey hog attractant is not necessary at all.

Don't allow em any feed outside of what you put in the trap. Also, for some reason I've had good luck with soured milk.

Better not close the lid too tight.

It will be fermented when it stops bubbling. Just make sure to let it breathe enough to let the C02 escape.

Corn, lots of corn, and more corn. Paint the ground around the entrance and inside the trap gold. Appetite trumps caution eventually. I wire my trap doors open then when the game camera shows they are regulars inside the trap, I set it.

LOl. yes!! I should have mentioned I have old hydraulic oil buckets that have the pour spout that pops up. I leave it up and the screw cap just resting on it. Lol at the bubbles.... If you're dry heaving over the bucket trying to look for bubbles, or lack thereof, it's ready...:P.

I don't think the diesel is an attractant. I think it just keeps everything but a hog from touching it. At the same time, the raccoons are a good lure as well. Hogs like what the raccoons eat and will draw in from their scent.

I have pulled a raccoon urine scent drag from hog trails and creeks where they hang out, up to the feed. It seems to speed up their activity because I think they want to know what that raccoon went to grub on. They'll find the corn for sure, but you can draw them from where they are much quicker, as opposed to catching the smell from the creek and trails, if that makes sense, but you got them coming already.

I haven't ever personally trapped them. I just get them in the act and install drain ports near their pump stations with the Gold Tips and Swhackers....
