    Jeep or SxS... thoughts?

So first, let me say that I've wanted a Jeep forever so this may be clouding my judgement a bit... this is why I'm asking for this advice. I truly don't know which way to go...

A little background. My 10 year old Honda Rancher is still going strong however my hubby's 12 year old ATV has finally succumbed to some ongoing electrical problems that we've been putting a bandaid on to get us through... So we need another lease vehicle....

Also, our oldest son is going to be driving in about 6 months so we are going to need a third vehicle sooner rather than later anyway... So here are the options that we've come up with...

Option 1: Buy a crew cab SxS (and a larger trailer to tow it on). Total cost for what we want around $22k....
The cons: It would stay at the lease and really only be used there, must create a storage place at the lease... What else?

Option 2: Buy a new Jeep Wrangler (around $13-15K more) and it will serve the purpose of getting one of us around the lease plus our son will have a vehicle (one of our old vehicles, NOT the Jeep) to drive when the time comes.
The cons: More expensive... what else?

What would y'all do? and WHY?

So, I gather this is solely, in terms of off road stuff, going to be used at you guys lease?

Are the places you needing to go accessible by Jeep/Truck?

Do you like a heater on cold mornings going to the stand?

Buy two used Wranglers. One for son--one for lease. :-). Done! Well under your 22K figure.

using your numbers...how is the jeep a more expensive option?

I'd personally buy 4 really good used jeeps ot Toyota trucks before I'd buy something I have to tow to the lease

The only time I'd advocate a SxS over a Jeep is if the person is going to need to go places a Jeep/Truck cannot take them. Or, wanted a toy to go to mud parks and places of that nature with.

At our lease a SxS is indispensable because it turns a 20 minute drive by truck into a 5 minute drive to get to stands.

Not if they're recent year models. Before I bought my truck I was looking hard at used Wranglers and man they hold their value well

Yes off road only at the lease...

Accessible by truck... When it's dry I can get to my stand in our truck... when it's wet, definitely not since it's not a 4x4, hence the reason we HAVE to have 2 lease vehicles.

As far as the heater, I'm used to riding on a 4 wheeler so no...

The pro to the Jeep is that I get to drive it other places and not just on the lease. I'm having a hard time with the cost of a SxS JUST to have at the lease...

What will you use it for at the lease other than transporting hunters? Corn? Deer? We have a guy on our place that has a Jeep and when he uses it to take out corn he has to pile it up on seats, which is not very conducive. A truck bed or UTV bed is much better for those types of things.

                  Neither option.

I would buy a 4x4 jeep Cherokee for a lease vehicle. A/C and Heat are nice to have and you can come by them cheap. A lot less worry leaving it at the lease as compared to a SXS and a trailer.

Buy your son a first truck, it doesn't have to be fancy just reliable. As much as I like SXS the cost of them is ridiculous.

The Jeep would be new... I'm not talking used. I'm talking also for a sometimes daily driver for me or the hubby once the man-child starts driving in a few months.

I agree on not wanting something to have to be towed to the lease. But it WOULD stay out there during the season so wouldn't be towed back and forth.

Would you consider buying a used 4x4 truck with a smaller price tag than the $22k side by side?

Just to be clear... the Wrangler would be mine, not the kiddos (hence my reason for going new)... He'd get either our current truck or car to drive...
