Best duck hunting advice was just given to you. I'm a newbie as well as I've only got about 20 years under my belt. About year 10 I had some good calls and was good with them my problem was I used them way too much. Now I go several hunts without picking up a call. I use a pintail whistle most of the time

What everyone said. I have only been hunting
Waterfowl for 5ish years and still rarely call. I started out with a good ol haydel 85 and now blowing a cheap double nasty. 90% of my calling is usually with my whistle or a teal call from duck commander ( don't judge me, it sounds **** good, only DC product I'll ever buy)
These last 2 seasons were where I was finally confident in my calling after non stop practicing in the truck driving to work and any other time I was alone or at home. Nothing is greater than getting on your call at a group of ducks and see them turn their heads then circle a few times and come down cupped and locked.
My advice to you would be get a whistle and a cheap call first and practice at home. When you go hunt, leave the calls at home. Quality motion is better than anything out there. Jerk rig, is the best in my opinion, then a pulsator, mallard machine and a mojo (early season only)
Hope your wallet us ready haha

I'm a big fan of the sure shot mallard 650 and the yentzen. Cheap calls and they flat out sound like a duck, been using the same ones for 30 years. Like said above, don't get crazy with it. Keep it low key and if your not a good caller just hit em when they are going away from you. Don't blow at ducks when they're commited.

Get a cheap haydel, primos, duck commander, whatever call and practice before you go out. If you're going with people that know how to call ask for tips, let them critique you. Best thing is hunt for a while and pay attention to how people call. I've been calling for a few years now, but when I go with buddies that have been calling all their lives I sit back and listen.
