Something you don't see every day

My son's backyard in Montana, picture taken by rancher next door.
The funny part? He and his buddy visiting from Cali were out hunting mulies and elk when this picture was taken. No moose tags, unfortunately- he could have stuck one with an arrow from his deck. (BTW, his buddy missed an elk at 400+ yards but took a nice mulie, my son got an elk and a mulie- and his girlfriend got her mulie- they're still chasing her elk- she wants antlers this year and is passing on cows)

I keep telling him sometimes you need to find a comfortable spot and just sit and wait for the animals instead of putting in many miles of humping in the hills.

I can't imagine looking out the kitchen window and yelling out, "Hey the *** mooses are rutting again and ruining the lawn"

Those look like Shira's moose... I was almost run over while on an archery elk hunt in Colorado once by a cow moose being chased by a yearling bull... I was standing in an old logging road, and they came charging down the road... I stepped into the brush at the last minute and they came charging by... Those suckers are BIG! they'll make an elk look like a coues deer! Scared me pretty good. That would be pretty awesome to have something like that in your back yard, or at least have that potential! Congratulations to your son Bill on where he lives, what he got on his hunt (so far) and for a GF that hunts with him! The boy's doin' something right! You dun good dad!

Thank you, that comment means a lot to me. I found this quote from Phil, who I have a picture with my son (14) with their arms on each others shoulders. Afterwards, he turned to me and said "Dad, I'm a changed man". I called Duck Commander Enterprises and left a message for Phil last week thanking him for being a guiding light in my son's life.

“Whether it was hunting, fishing, or playing sports, my children were going to grow up outside. They weren't going to be sitting on the couch inside. At least they didn't grow up to be nerds.”
