    I-45 from Houston traveling northbound

I will be leaving Houston this afternoon heading northbound. I got word the other day the part of I-45 was closed just south of The Woodlands. I will leaving out around 4:30 this afternoon. My plans were to either take I-45 to Huntsville & exit to Hwy 19 or take 59 to Lufkin. Headed back to Tyler,Tx. What's best path to avoid closures/detours?

    That's not true
    I travel that route everyday
Getting ready to leave the house up that way in about 30 minutes
I check the traffic maps and if there is traffic I take Hardy Toll Road
the thing is just south of the Rayford Exit they are doing all that Exxon Mobile connector construction so so it always bottlenecks right there (going northbound)
If you take the HTR you will be spit out just north of that bottleneck and save up to 45 mins

check that map just before you get ready to go and you will be fine

also, if they shut down 45 right there it would be INSANE because that is the main/only way to get from Woodlands to Downtown without paying for HTR or going waaaay out of the way via streets (and maybe 249)

It was closed this weekend and was a mess, it is back open now.

This. That's two years in a row they shut down the freeway right there on opening weekend of deer season. Fortunately all that crap should be completed very soon.

I was trapped on 45 for almost 3 hours going home on Sunday because they closed down the whole freeway. It's really making me rethink an East Texas least instead.
