I've got an old stand up freezer with worn out weather strip that doesn't like to get the suction to seal. I have walked into the washroom many times to find it cracked open. A new trim/seal replacement was too pricey. Luckily I have caught it timely enough that nothing thawed out. I picked up this little latch from home depot over a year ago and the freezer stays closed. I think it was called a screen door latch. I was intending to get some sort of gate type latch, but I stumbled upon this, in the same section as the gate hinges, latches, etc.. I screwed the "door" piece of latch on first, then I placed the larger piece into the door piece. I pushed the door tight and my side kick marked the holes for drilling. It helped give it a snug seal when closing and pushing a little past the relaxed position to drop in the pin. If any of you guys got an icebox or freezer at the camp that you bungee up because it just keeps creeping open, then this is the ticket. It's simple and you don't have to chase that bungee around the freezer like a dog chasing his tail.
