    Priceline.com, Anyone ever used it

    Well
it looks like I will be buying a airline ticket for my bother-in-law for christmas. I found a good price at Priceline.com, but hate doing thing over the web. It seem that I alway have extra question when I'm doing something new.

So, what can I exect to see. Is it as cut and dry as, i find a flight, they give me a price, I give them my price. than I pay the set amount and they send me a ticket....

Is it set in stone, and there is no underlining extra cost....

    please, give me your thoughts

I have not used Priceline for airline tickets in some time. When i did use them, you named the days you wanted to travel, how many stoops you could handle and then your price. If they could get you that price you got the tickets. No choice on flight time, or airlines. I only did it once. I do not like leaving my flight times up to chance.

I would look at Southwest, Travelocity or the airlines directly. Travelocity lets you register and they will email you on fair changes. I am sure most every site does that though.

I do use Priceline for hotels without any issues. Much easier.

I've used priceline in the past and like certain aspects like the pricing, but if you need to change your ticket at the last minute, you have to pay big bucks.

You will have this problem no matter where you get the ticket. Priceline.com is fine as are Travelocity and Expedia.

ahh i love priceline for hotels.

I stayed at the millenium downtown manhatten . . . right accross from ground zero in a suite for four days. Paid $175 a night.

Going next week to Millenium Times Square and it was $250 a night. I like it a lot for hotels, wouldn't use it for flights I fly a lot and would rather not deal with crappy flight arrangments to save a few bucks.

i have not used priceline but have looked for tickets through them. i usually find cheaper tickets with hotwire.com or cheaptickets.com personally. but that all depends on when and where you are flying at the time. they all get special deals with the airlines but at different times so i would always check atleast a few web sites before purchase. imho

I've used it only for hotels. I'll book a backup that I'm willing to bite on and then I'll hit priceline the day I arrive to see what happens. A lot of times I can get a really good deal on a nice hotel doing it that way. I think the later you try, the better the deal. They're willing to dump rooms they don't have booked on priceline at that point.

I have the best luck on airlines by going through the airline's website directly. But, flexibility is important to me...I'll pay a little extra for that. One screw up on the cheap seats will set you back enough if you have to rebook that it will negate a years worth of savings!
