They may all look the same externally, yes! But, it's the internal processor that determines the cost of one compared to another. In my practice (doctorate level audiologist for 30+ years) I've see them all. Wouldn't advise using them when hunting with firearms as the transient muzzle blast could fry the circuit, but for bowhunting, I hear them coming in from 50 yards away. Get with a practitioner that will take at least an hour and fully discuss the differences so you may make an informed and specific choice in circuitry that is applicable to your lifestyle.

Any comments on the quality of the testing and the hearing aids sold at Costco or Sam's Clubs compared to a private audiologist's practice for those on a budget (or just cheap in my case?)
I found with eyeglasses it was a lot cheaper to take my Rx, thank the eye doctor and VSP benefits, and go to Coatco and just buy the frames and lenses to the script there.

I hate my hearing aids! My hearing is bad enough that I can't function well without them, but I hate them none the less! I have had several different ones, and so far, they have all sucked. My son has a $100 pair of ear buds for his phone that sound awesome. I don't understand why they can't make $5000 hearing aids sound any better than they do!
