    Lost our oldest tonight

Tonight started off awesome had men's group tonight, we had a baptism, but to be honest near the end of the night I kept feeling like I needed to get home to momma. I needed to close up the church and then usual happens get caught talking with a brother about hunting. Looked at my phone and noticed the wife called left a voice mail. As I continued to talked the phone rings again I pick up. She sounds like she had it together , but the starts off I didn't want to tell you over the phone, but she did and my heart sank, and I headed home. I'm a dog lover at heart, but when me and my wife hot together she told me this was a packaged deal. So along came our cat Spanky. American tabby with a personality beyond what I knew a cat could have. During the day he was always with the wife and at night he had no problem snuggling up next yo me or between us both. Tonight there were no heavy paw steps coming towards us wth a meow to let us know it's time for bed. He had no signs of slowing of down or being sick. My wife found him in his sleeping position when she went to feed them. He didn't get up, she called, silence, she saw him and went to pet him and she knew then, still soft to the touch, but yet cold and asleep. He was 15 this year. God quickly reminded me that we are not promised tomorrow and in a blink of an eye we could be called home. Thanks for reading. I pray the Lord allows me to fall asleep. Miss ya buddy

I'm not much of a cat person, even though we have one (little girls sometimes have a way of getting what they want when they have their daddy wrapped around there finger), but losing a pet regardless of what it is can be like losing a member of the family. My learned this last year after we had to put the family dog down at the young age of 6 due to cancer. Sorry for your loss...praying for peace and comfort.

Sorry for your loss. Was relieved to read that it was not your oldest child. I was never a cat person except that we had a cat with a dog's personality for several years growing up. They can find their way into our hearts just like a dog.

Asking God for comfort for you and your wife during this heavy time.

Thoughts and prayers man. It's devastating to lose a furry friend. The love and loyalty they give is unconditional.
