    1st DIY Euro

Shot my first bow buck on the 11th. He was one of our management bucks that was mature and needed a dirt nap.

Thanks to my BIL and tips from TBH'er ShakeNBake, I learned how to do my own euro mount. Got it mounted today with a Skull Hooker--if you've never bought one, give it a try. Doesn't require any drilling.

The other buck is from last year (cheated with a smoke stick) and both are from Houston County.

If you've never done one yourself but want to, I encourage it. It's rewarding to be able to harvest a deer, take it home to process it yourself and then mount it yourself.

Nice job man, that looks great. I really enjoy doing my own mounts. I literally just now pulled my buck head out of the freezer thinking I would be able to skin his face- not happening. Back in the freezer until I have time to let him thaw.

        Nice
Did you boil it and then bleach it?

Can you adjust the angle/tilt of the head with it? Would like to see his head up in a more natural position.

First euro or 20th, that's a great job!

Looks good man...I agree that there's something cool about harvesting a deer and then processing it yourself and then doing your own euro mount.

By the way, those are some good looking Houston County bucks. I've been hunting up there a long time.

It was cheaper to order from eBay than it was their website so I got it there.

That picture kind of creates an illusion that's he's a lot smaller than the other 8. Here is another angle.

It's really easy to do firstly you have to skin the head and get as much meat as you can off. Then you boil the head but (wrap the base of the horns tight with foil or the color will come off and they will turn white) once the head is ready to boil put just enough water to cover the skull and try to keep as much antler out of the water as possible then let the skull boil on low heat for a hr or two once the skull has been in long enough. You can scrape all the meat, eyes, brain, exc. Or if you have a pressure washer you can be careful and wash all the stuff off the skull then give just the skull a bath in 50/50 bleach or degreaser and water for 20 or 30 mins then let dry in the sun and once dry spray straight hydrogen peroxide On the skull till you get it white.
