I know they duck and roll. Man they are just unbelievably fast.
She did run back the opposite way she was facing.

Yea but it's always good to learn something from every shot and recovery.
Lesson here, they are a lot faster than we think they are.[emoji1]

Neither of those holes are wishing 6"'of a shoulder bone.

She did the Ol duck and roll on you. Wasn't quite enough though.

About 60 yrds but she did it full out in about 3 seconds.
She crashed once, it looked like she slid into home plate. Got up and went another 10 yrds and died running.
Thus is how we found her.

Usually when they hear the sound of the bow, they duck and turn away from the sound, thus the reason you have a higher exit wound.

She rolled away to run from the sound of the shot. Had it happen to me 2x with one being this year. Both of mine exited at base of neck breaking spine and dropping them instantly. Both of mine also happened at at 32-35 yard range. I'm guessing at that distance they are able to start to roll away as the arrow gets there.

This is true... You do not realize how quick they are, unless you have a camera set up, and watch the shot in slow motion.

I shot a doe on camera and couldn't figure out how I hit her where I did until I watched it in slow motion. She dropped and rolled her back before the arrow got there. The shot was only 20 yards.

Looks like you should be glad whatever did happen. From that angle and entry that low and that far back could have made a difficult tracking job. Better lucky than good so to speak. Congrats on the doe.
