    Deer and thunderstorms?

Weather is supposed to hit here somewhere around 2 in the morning and stay all day with a chance of thunderstorms. What is yalls experience with hunting in heavy rain, is it worth getting up in the morning?

My experience is they don't move in the rain. However if there's any lull in the rain they will be up moving. Especially if the rain is supposed to be set in most of the day.

I always try to be in the woods right when the rain stops.

I watched a buck eat for over an hour in the pooring rain last year. when the corn was all gone he bedded under a small tree. gave a grunt and snort wheeze and he hit his feet and came stright to us. just before he came in there was a few does and a couple of smaller bucks.

the way i see it is if you have a chance to go and can stay dry/dont mind getting a little wet, go for it. cant see them/kill them if your sitting at home.

If there is a chance the rain will break, especially when a cold front is moving in, be there ready. Lightening is usually a deciding factor for me personally. It can be heavy rains pouring and I'll go hunting as long as the lightening is ok.

I would wait for the rains to calm down to a light rain. I killed my biggest buck in a light rain.

              This.

Right before and right after a storm, they will be on their feet.

I try not to bowhunt in the rain if I can help it just because I usually need all the blood sign I can get.
