    Kill rats thread

So maybe yal saw my post. They got my samurai wiring harness last week. Used to leave the hood about 12" Open. Patched the wires I needed to get it going together. Leave it pretty much wide open with a plastic bag over the carb and intake last Friday. Got back to the lease yesterday and they got me again. Made a repair and got moving. They got me last night again! Went to town today and got some poison and A few traps. I have some more and bigger traps here somewhere. Gonna set up and get em. Hosed out my samurai which smelled like pee bad. Found fresh corn size poop in it. Guess I'm dealing with big rats as well as mice. Post your damage and your kills. What works for you. Hopefully by the end of the weekend I can harvest some of these things.

The poison will work but if they are rats doing the damage then you got the wrong traps. Those are mouse traps rat traps are much bigger.

Got no pics but at my sons place he put out a whole lot of poison, plus the grandsons shot 2-20 per week during June-Aug. plus I don't know how many they trapped with the various styles and sizes of traps, and they cleaned/cleared a low brush/grass infested area where the rats were coming from. They finally got them reduced down to controllable they think, but that's yet to be seen, with colder weather coming they could end up trying to keep them from carrying the house off.

We have had more rat problems this year than we've had in 10 years. Already killed 4 in traps and have put out many dollars worth of bait. We are using the TomCat rat bait which is like 50 times stronger than the mouse stuff by the same manufacturer. An exterminator told us to put out some Alka-Seltzer tablets and 7-Up. Said it causes there stomachs to bloat and they can't burp, so it will kill them. Going to try that this weekend.

Man I'm telling you!! I was using my hand to dig out the dirt and pine needles under my seat before I hosed it all out. Felt something squishy. Pulled my hand out. Had poo on it. Smelt it and it smelled like dog poop!! No lie. Told my buddy to smell it. The poo was big. They gotta be some huge ones.

You got the get the stuff for Rats, not Mice. Go to Tractor Supply and get the big, black rat traps. I think they are 6 bucks, but much easier to set than the old wooden ones. Also get the BlackCat poison that is for rats, not mice.

Hearing the same thing from a lot of people. Worse than ever. My dad brought a camper here last season. We don't even use it anymore it's so bad. They are really horrible animals. Such a headache. Afraid they'll get in our trucks over the weekend. I start mine every so often so it's not sitting for days. Try and flush em out. I got the tomcat. But I have to be careful cause my dog is usually here. He is very picky though. Doubt he will eat it.

I've tried everything - poison, water bucket, glue traps and snap traps of all types... but the best trap I have found is the electric one from Tractor Supply that zaps them when they go inside.
I've killed about 15 mice and rats with one electric trap....way more than all other methods combined.
Glue traps work ok for mice but rats have a tendency to peel themselves off.

build yourself one of these, fill the pot up with 4 inches of antifreeze

Saw those. Was wondering if they worked.

By the way those electric traps are expensive but worth it, imo.
