How do they have a turkey hunt if there isn't a season?

My place in Grayson has rios only, never realized there wasn't a season.

They call it an "eastern" turkey season. I have seen the easterns in Grayson, but there are a lot of rios out there. I hunted the turkey hunt at the H this past spring and it was all rios that I saw.

They're actually rio's at the H or at least that is what they told me at the turkey hunt. But Grayson only has the "eastern" turkey spring season.

If look at other counties in the area, Cooke for example, it specifically list out Rio Grande and Eastern turkeys.

There are some hybrids/easterns in far eastern Grayson County. Even though mainly Rio's, it's a one turkey county because of this. You still have to check your birds in, etc just like an Eastern only county.

Hey now! lol I saw some, but they stayed on private land then ended up getting shot before getting to the fence

At least someone got one! That was tough hunt!

I saw 5 6:40 doe with big buck chasing. Wouldn't stop for shot. 7:30 AR buck. 8:09 doe killed her. 10:07 130 class buck gave pass.
