Cable or chain to secure your yeti

I got a roadie the other day that I'm going to be using my work truck mostly. I was just wondering what would be harder to cut? I know if a thief wants it he will get it, but I don't want somebody just being able to walk up and grab it. At night it will be secure in the house.

Wire slings are harder to cut than chain.

I just bought some heavy duty chain from Lowes and put a heavy duty masterlock on it.

Like you said, if someone wants it they'll get it but I only have mine in the truck to-and-from destinations, never out at night. At least if I stop for gas/food, it's somewhat more secured.

Could have got one at work today, but it was 1 inch in diameter and 20 foot long

I use a bike cable lock. All any of it will do is keep honest people honest. If they want it bad enough nothing is theft proof

I got some cable from work today and I couldn't cut it with my bolt cutters or any hand tool that I had. But my band saw cut it like butter. I guess i'll just use that cable.

I had mine secure with Yeti Cable and lock. Lost my key and used just ta regular pair of linemans pliers to cut that cable in less than a minute.

Should I fire up my generator and maybe inbed the chain into the yeti!

I broke the key off in mine at an Allsup's in Roswell.

Pulled out a pair of tinsnips out of my toolbox and was thru it in a minute or two.

I have mine chained down with grade 70 transport chain and a disc lock. One end is welded to my truck bed, the other is locked with a 1/4 inch piece of angle iron to the cooler.

It's not theft proof but if you're gonna try to steal it, I'm making you work for it. I rarely leave it in the bed over night, but if I have to I will lock both ends of the cooler to my truck bed and lock the lid

Who would have thought that an overpriced bike lock wasn't worth a crap

Ha, you beat me to it. Maybe he chained the generator to the Yeti.

Maybe it is because I am a simpleton, but why not just keep it in the cab? Surely it is small enough to keep in there at times when you are out of the truck.

This^^^^ Most if not all bolt cutters cannot and will not cut wire slings. You need a scissor type cutter to do that. Heavy duty locks work well, but still can be cut with the right bolt cutters. But if I were to steal a cooler. I would work on the plastic parts where it is anchored to(handles) that are easier to break so the cooler can be stolen.
