    Strike Force trail cam exchanged

On your advice, I decided to stay with the Strike Force 10MP trailcam I was having problems with (instead of changing brands), so I took it back to Academy and got another one. I also got a 16GB SanDisk.

I set it up on the front porch. I set it on 20 seconds delay, and multi-picture set at "4" so it would take 4 pictures.

It got a picture of one of our cats, but it was AFTER he'd been eating. I don't know what the issue is. I KNOW this cat; he jumps up on the porch and sits there 10-15 minutes nibbling on the dry food.

The first picture, at 10:30PM, shows him just walking away.

In the second picture, at 7:06 AM, you can see that the food's gone. But there's no picture of him (or anything else) sitting there eating it. Just him walking away again.

Is anything wrong, or is this how it normally works? They advertise a trigger time of .67 seconds, but I don't see anything like that. Or maybe it's because it's using IR....?

your camera is too high and pointed down.

Needs to be 3-4 feet off the ground and level.

So because of this, the field of view/trigger area is very small as its not positioned correctly.

I always set my cams high and looking down if I put them on scrapes. Two years ago got six pics in a row 30 seconds apart of two bucks fighting. Bushnell cam. Hope all Brownings are not like this 'cause I got one ( the only one I own ) on a place that's too far to check regularly. I have six or seven Bushnells and they work great for me. Brownings get good reviews so what is happening here ???

Edit: I bought the Browning used on here. Maybe that's why the guy sold it ? I dunno.........

It's 2 feet off the ground and pointed exactly towards the food bowl. But I see your point. The bowl is above the center of the viewing field, where it starts getting darker. I can see where this might be an issue when the camera is very close to the target.

I think it's related to what gingib pointed out. The target is very close to the camera, so the trigger area is much smaller. You can see where the food bowl is a little above center; that's why it didn't take the pics of him sitting at the bowl eating.

I'll do it again tonight and point it a little more upwards. By all indications, this is an excellent cam!
