Do deer Move in High Winds?

From my experience I've seen deer move best when the wind calms down but will they still move with high winds? It's nice and cool with all my stands being huntable with this North/North West Wind today. The wind is blowing but it looks promising as long as it doesn't start swirling is it a good time to go set up today?

In east tx they normally bed down in high winds or when they do move are very spooky.

I've always heard to hunt a low lying area during high wind

I don't see near as much deer movement in what I'd call high winds (25-30mph+), but I have killed deer on really windy days. I've never killed on in my living room.

That is very truth can't kill them on the couch! I think I'm going to go I have nothing to lose since my approach and scent stream will be flowing a good direction. It's to good of a week to be at home!

High winds eliminate some of their defenses. It is harder to hear and harder to know where smells are coming from. With that, I would think that it depends on the pressure they are exposed to. If they are more dependent on their hearing and smell in your area, then they are likely to bed down and stay safe. Survival mode, its instinctive. Just my two cents.

Not as much but they still need to eat, drink, and breed. I have killed some deer in very windy conditions. I think the weather affects the hunter moreso than the animals.

Killed a doe years ago during 40 mph gusts. Sometimes we humanize deer in the sense that if it's not comfortable to us, it's not to them.

We couldn't be wrongerer. Excuse me - more wronger.

High wind is great for spot and stalk. Deer typically will not move during the day in high wind especially when warm

I think high winds cause them to hunker down, senses of smell and hearing are limited then. But, that's not to say good bucks cant be had on windy days, one of the nicest bucks I ever put in the freezer and on the wall was on a 25mph windy day.
