    It also depends on if the air mass is rising or falling. I use dust from the ground or puffer chalk. Chalk will let you know the direction of the wind, but also if the puff rises, your scent is being carried up, if it falls your scent is being carried down to the ground.

    You also have to think what the wind is doing down range. I have a stand that the wind blows one direction, but 75-100 hrs away it may be blowing a different direction because of topography.

      I get pretty high up in a tree, use skunk scent, I also try and place my stands to where I can hunt regardless of wind. I also have my stand fairly close to the landowners house, the deer are accustomed to some human odor. I really like hunting during the rut, the bucks just don't seem to care.
