Grass question

Thought I'd ask the green screen for some help on this.

I'm in the final couple weeks of building my house west of DFW and I'm trying to figure out what to do about grass. I don't want to deal with a mud yard until spring due to having 3 kids. Would sod be worth laying this time of the year? If so what's the best place to get it. I've seen where people do hydro mulch with winter rye but I don't really want to turn around in the spring and do something else. Anyways what's my options?

my house was finished in December and the builder layed sod, came up fine in the spring, put some winter fertilizer on it

Can hydromulch now with rye and your desired warm season seed. Rye will choke out in the spring/summer as warm season comes up. Sod will take root but wont green up till spring.
