What I saw said tracks were washed out

If you wouldn't drive a car through high water, why the heck would you try a train?

The floods earlier in the year washed out a county road bridge around the corner from the house. Pretty sure after seeing how high the creek was today that it will be gone again

Somebody is gonna be in trouble. No way that train should have gone thru without a spotter.

The train could have been stopped and then washed out. When you get flash flood warnings on a train that doesn't always mean that one area is prone to washing out so there for not the crews fault. Now if they were in what is called a critical area they are supposed to run restricted speed and stop short of that wash out or standing water. There are a lot of variables that go into running a train in situations like this. Either way hope the crew is ok and going home to there families.

I heard they came around the corner and saw it and pulled the emergency brake but obviously it didn't stop in time.

Makes sense knowing it takes about a mile to stop the average freight train

However you would think they should have been going a lot slower than normal
