    Trouble starting diesel

My truck has been having trouble starting in colder weather these past two years. But this morning in above 50 degree weather it did not want to start. That to me means there is something wrong with glow plugs since i bought two brand new batteries last year. Does any one know the amount of ohms my glow plugs should have? Thanks for helping in advance.

Glow plugs preheat the air in the combustion chamber in diesel engines so that they start faster when they are cold. If your engine is having trouble starting or you see smoke coming from your exhaust, then one or more of your glow plugs...

I had the same problem on a 97 7.3 though I had bad glow plugs. repair shop replaced a part that controls power to glow plugs. problem fixed. They said that was common problem with 7.3's Its located behind alt. on the ENG It sends power to glow plugs when you turn on switch.

My 6.0 was doing that and it had injector issues.. It took long to start on the first start of the day and had no power until it warmed up.. Lucky I added something to my oil that my buddy who is a 6.0 mech. And it fixed it but he said it was prob just a band aid for it.. Ended up trading it in..

Make sure you check out the glow plug controller before replacing glow plugs, or you might just be replacing glow plugs a second time!

I've had two 7.3 and replaced on both. Quick fix hopefully.

Sounds stupid but check your batteries and connections. My had a similar issue and it was battery related.
