    How to transport deer cape

Leaving for Indiana Friday, just wanna be prepared for the what ifs. So I've been wondering if I cape out a deer for mounting how to keep that head/cape cold during the time I'm there and how to transport the head/cape back to Texas in my truck without ruining the cape. Any out of state hunters have any tips?? Thanks in advance

Let Cape Air cool all the way thru and Then Roll it up tight in a Sealed Trash Bag and Put it on Ice. You will be Good

The best thing would be to find someone to freeze it for you. If you can't do that, then keep it on ice, but don't let it get wet.

I had also heard, fold the cape hair to hair. Never meat to hair

Lots of ice and keep the cape dry

If you are not comfortable caping the head, find a local taxidermist and pay them to cape the hide off the head. Then have them cut the horns off the skull as well. Well worth the money and take less than 30 minutes.

This right here. I'm lucky enough to have a brother that is a taxidermist so I have learned how to skin the cape off of the head. But any local taxidermist should take care of you for a small fee
