    Ahhhhh

I was hunting at stand location that was drawing deer and hogs Saturday morning when a 150 lbs hog came 10-15 yards away eating corn. It was right at light and although I could easily see my pins since it was a black hog I was having trouble locating my shot placement. So I had to let down my draw and wait a few or minutes (maybe 1 minute you know how it goes...it always seems longer) long story short I drew back and let one fly after getting confident on my placement. I immediately heard a loud smack as the impact of the ST hit right behind the front shoulder (I am 90% sure of the placement it all happened so fast) sadlly the arrow stopped in the other shoulder with out passing through, but since it was a quartering away shot I still felt confident. The hog jumped and ran (with an arrow sticking out of it) through a feeder leg snapping the protruding 12-15 inches of a 29 inch arrow off and leaving the rest inside.

I found good blood 15 yards from the shot however after the first 10 yrds or so the blood trail turned into drops every foot or so. The blood trail ended after crossing a fence and there was no hog to be found.

    AHHHHH....I cant believe it.

If you've not ever tried it before, open your other eye in low light conditions and you'll see the animal much better. You'll also see the flight of the arrow better.

Good luck on finding him. It sounds like he shouldn't have gone far.

Its wierd how you can make a good shot and sometimes there will be no blood trail to be found. I shot one opening morning and made a perfect shot and from where i shot him he only went about 50 yards. If i hadn't heard him fall it would have been tough finding him in the thick brush. He didn't leave any blood on the path he took after the shot. The buzzards will show you where he went if you did kill him.

I just found out that a hog I shot 2 weeks ago quartering away and the arrow did not passthrough was killed Last weekend. Same situation, good solid shot but smack dab in the opposite shoulder knuckle.

        Good luck.

That stinks David. I bet you would have found him if you'd invited me to go with you.

I made the same shot at 20 yards Sat. morning with a slick trick, got a pass through( in behing shoulder and exit through opposite shoulder) and had a great blood trail
