I'd have caught him, brought him home, and released him around the house. Almost every one I see in the woods that's non venomous gets relocated to my yard somewhere. Now if I could just keep the neighbors from killing them! Haven't had a rat, mouse, or venomous snake problem/sighting in the 4 years ive lived here and I have a large creek running right behind my back yard less than 50 yds from my back door!

With all the Texas rat snake threads you would think people would know them by now. Texas only has 4 venomous snakes. Rattlesnake(note the rattle), water moccasin(stubby tail, dark, white mouth), copperhead(copper in color with copper bands), and lastly the coral snake(red on yellow kill a fellow). Simple.
