The most ridiculous thing I've heard this week.

So out of all the "just gum" that could have been chosen, it's just a coincidence that they ended up with the watermelon. It was just a coincidence that the only fruit mentioned 2x in the gift was watermelon. Another coincidence that the words out of the kids mouths when giving the fruit just happened to mention the watermelon?

And let me edit this to say again, I don't think the kids were being racist. I do think that someone knew what they were doing.

There's no evidence of what was said by the kids. We've been down this road with teenagers posting on facebook/twitter about "I was there and this is how it happened".

It's also on facebook that the "victimized school" gave "white" cheddar popcorn and crackers. These non-coincidental hate bombs are being set everywhere. Victimology 101. The guilt-ridden white liberals fail the class every time.

This reminds me of something happened to me in around 1996 or 7. I worked at a shop where a there were quite a few racist black guys. Mostly older guys that had lived through the latter end of the civil rights stuff. Vietnam era guys. ( some were vets ). I got along with most of em, probably because of my respect for older guys and I figured they ( the racist ones ) had a reason they had those feelings due to the racism they had endured. ( of which I have not seen in my lifetime-born in 75 ). Anyway, one day an older black guy was eating some nuts and as I walked by he stopped me and with a serious look on his face held out a nut and said "I know what yall call these". I stood there confused. I had no idea what he was talking about. He stared at me as I explained that I had no idea what he meant. He said "yall call these nword toes". I still had no clue what he meant. I walked away confused and bewildered. Why did he say that? Why was that necessary? Why did he assume I called them that? How is it that I ( naturally being a racist since Im white ) had never heard this?

Just something for us all to think about.

I had never seen them called Brazil Nuts until the late 60's... When I was a kid the stores would have signage with the other name on them.. And I suspect that fellow was pulling your chain cause he knew it would make you uncomfortable. Old folks like to see young'uns squirm a little.

IT'S NOT ABOUT THE WATERMELON...

I can say this because I just moved from Atascocita, to another subdivision closer to Summer Creek. If my kids were in HS, I would have just moved them from AHS to SCHS.

Atascocita is predominantly White... Summer Creek is predominantly minority, specifically African American.

It was a stupid decision, at the very least, for AHS to give SCHS a Watermelon in their basket. Whoever put that piece of fruit in the basket knew exactly what he or she was doing. I have been to the games between these 2 schools and I have heard the things said / implied. They are less than 5 miles apart and there is no love lost between either of them.

I wonder what the reaction would have been if SCHS had put Saltine Crackers in their basket to AHS?

Just a thought...

If you put saltines in my basket I'm looking for the gumbo!
