I am not going to spoil Denson's post,or thread, but one of these deer pictured above was taken by him with a rifle this evening. I am happy as all get out for him but sad that I could not be there to celebrate with him!

Need to pay attention if and when Denson posts about this buck and the events that followed this deer at the processor. If he does not past about this deer and hunt, then i will, but i am pretty sure he will as it is the biggest buck he has ever killed and the biggest and heaviest we have ever taken off our lease by a huge margin. Stay tuned. Rains were sure good to this deer and he sure endured a lot.

My self and Doug " mudslinger" had 4 or 5 good bucks on camera we had targeted. He really wanted wide boy and I wanted a good look at the drop time Monday afternoon I got into the stand about 2:30 about 10 minutes later a flock of probably 25 turkeys came to the feeder. I had my bolt action .243 and somehow was able to get off 3 shots and miraculously got 3 turkeys. It was fairly warm so I took them to camp to put on ice. Still plenty of shooting time left but after shooting 3 times, walking all through hunting area to retrieve the birds I wasn't expecting to see much, but sitting in blind beats sitting in camp. I had been in blind 30 minutes when I saw a glimpse of antlers coming fast over the ridge a couple hundred yards to the north. It was the first time in my life I didn't need no stinking binoculars. I knew he was a shooter. I hoped he would come to feeder because with all the rain the sunflowers are so tall it's hard to see anything. He did not!! He made a bee line for the canyon to my east. I had a 5-10 yard shooting lane I had made through the sunflowers about 80 yards away. He came in trotting very quickly. Right before he hit the only possible opening I was going to have I grunted with my mouth. He slowed down just enough for me to make a good shot. He ran 30 yards and expired. Mudslinger had multiple cam pics of him but always to the south of me. He had hunted this buck hard and I was just in right place at right time. His dressed weight was 184lbs which is very large for Kent / Stonewall county. At the processor we caped him and measured him. His inside spread was a little over 25 inches. He had approx 6 inches of an arrow shaft imbedded in his
Shoulder. It had passed through his left side and went through other shoulder bone. The arrow apparently stuck out both sides of his body and broke off fletchings and broad head later. The entry hole was healed and was at least a year old. Be careful field dressing animals broad head could have been in his chest cavity and sliced my wrist and where I was I could have bled out before I could get to town. Thanks to Doug Johnson for all his support and help. My best hunting day ever!!
