    Hog trapping

I have a question for the experienced hog trappers on the green screen. If I kill hogs while they are in the trap, will other hogs still come in it. I have heard that if hogs are killed in a trap to remove them others wont come in. What are your thoughts or experiences.

We kill them in the trap and it takes several days before they will go back in the trap.

Yes and no...I've had some that I had to move the trap over some, to catch more. I've also caught some the very next day.

Once I killed 17 in a trap and hauled them off. The next day I caught 11 in the same trap.
I have also seen hogs get trap shy and they just won't go in one.

Caught 3 in one of my box traps a week ago, shot them inside, and this morning caught another small sow. Same day I caught a 190-lb boar in another box trap and this morning had another small boar in it.

One lesson I've learned--don't be stingy with the corn--hunger/appetite trumps caution lots of the time. Paint the bottom of the trap gold!!!

Ive noticed much less activity in trap if I shoot them in it. I like to cover the blood with fresh dirt, I have seen that help.

I think it has more to do with seeing their buddies stuck in there the previous day than anything. I don't think hogs care less about blood.
