Alright so i am looking at enlisting in the military. But i am having a hard time comparing marines and army. I want to be marines but then again there is also the army. i do not know enough about either and am wandering what you guys out there that have done either or is a part of one of the two think. If you don't mind i would like to ask if you veterans out there and/or present day military peeps can give me your insight on marines army or both.?

First off, kudos to you for the guts to take that path...with any of the branches!! Best of luck to you.
So, forget figuring out what branch, first try to figure out what kind of job you think you would like to do in the military...THEN you can see if it is available in one or more branches and compare the life styles and what is offered. It is the job that will make you happy, not the branch of service.
There are hundreds of different career fields in our military. Some are offered in each branch, some are only offered in one.
Are you considering making it a career?...or are you pretty well set on just serving one tour and punching back out into the civilian world again- cause some jobs are worth big bucks on the outside, some are worth NOTHING...play your cards right.

I'm an Army grunt. Go air force. Thank me later.
On the real, any branch is good to go and is gonna have to pros and cons. Pick one and see what they have to offer at the time. If you have any Army specific questions feel free to pm me or post up on here either way. One of my soldiers is a prior service Marine and one of my best buddies I've known my whole life is a Marine. So I can shoot them your questions about Marine Corps as well.

Like haines said above, look more into what job you want to do. Don't get hung up on which branch. I just hit 8 years active duty and chose the Army over Marines because I wanted to get into the medical field. When I get out next year I have some excellent job opportunities waiting for me.
Another thing to consider is going and taking the ASVAB test to see what each branch can offer you as far as jobs go. Your scores will determine what will be open to you. And most importantly, never sign until you have what you want guaranteed in writing. The Army didn't want to offer me medic when I was coming in until I got up and started walking away at the MEPS (place where you enlist).

Being an old Nam grunt I always tell young people to join the Air Force. Even in Nam they slept in beds and ate out of plates.
