Shot my first deer with a bow yesterday. I've heard some wild stories of what they can do when they jump the string. Let's hear some stories.

This little buck was alert but not looking at me when I shot. The shot was going to be low but he dropped into it. He was rolling right to bolt. He dropped in his tracks but the arrow didn't pass thru. Looked him over after dressing him out. He rolled enough that the Hypodermic hit his spine. I was sitting in a chair on the ground. He was level with me.

Looks like a successful cull to me. He roll around on the ground like a mad man or what?

Exact same thing happened to my very first bow kill buck. Shot was low but he ducked into it and I spined him at 22yds. As luck would have it he fell away from me with his belly exposed. I knocked another arrow and threw one between his front legs and he was done. Hated to see him squirm around like that.

Yes, he flipped and twisted around. By the time I knocked another arrow and headed out to finish him, he was done. I really figured he was going to break my arrow. It came out while he was doing gymnastics and it looks perfectly good to me.

I was still in the field when I took pic. Was dark by the time I washed him up and didn't get any better pics. Sorry. It is pretty ugly.

My 1st bow kill was about a 30yd broadside shot.
It hit high and severed the artery that runs just below the spine.
I thought I'd never see the deer again the way it took off.
And about 40-50 yards after he bolted he did a complete flip like he hit a trip wire or something.

I was confused and walk straight over to him and he was a goner.

Got pretty lucky with my shot, and the fact that he was dead when I walked up and I didn't get ran over!
