Switching from left to right handed?

Is it plausible to teach myself to shoot right handed? I'm typically right handed, but when I was younger I couldn't close my left eye and was left eye dominant. I started shooting lefty, and have gone with it.
It's extremely difficult to find a bow with a 32.5" draw, and it would be easier if I could get a right handed bow. Anyone done it?

Personally I wouldn't do it, but it is doable with a lot of work. You'll need an eye patch or blinder for it to work well.. otherwise you'll be fighting with closing the left eye all the time.

    These work well... http://www.lancasterarchery.com/guns...es-to-hat.html

My little brother hunts with a right handed bow shooting left handed. He's killed a bunch of deer, and shoots as accurately as I do.

32.5 inch draw??? are you 7 foot tall? Really, how tall are you? what release you using??? You can work around the length in ways....

I wouldn't swap... you are trained one way.... I just found out recently I am cross dominant... I've decided not to mess with it, I can out shoot most people I've met with my hunting bow, only guy who consistently beat me had a scope and target bow

I'm 6' 3" with monkey arms. I've tried lengths from 31 up and 32.5" is where it felt best. I'm trying out a thumb release now.

I'd say it's possible. I've been shooting left handed since I started shooting a bow 8 years ago. My girlfriend just recently got a bow. And I was able to learn to shoot right handed and sight in her mission craze in about 2 hours for her. Granted it was only set at 35 lbs, but I was able to do it!

thumb release will either make you bend your left arm more (not necessarily a bad thing, but like anything it is taken to far) or make you need a LONGER release to keep your left arm in the same position.... Look into a release with a loose cord attachment, or like a true fire that you can adjust out a LONG way...

Your height would "typically" be a 30 inch draw... the math isn't perfect it doesn't account for ape arms... But your shooting a length I'd look to give a guy who is 5 inches taller than you

I'm gona be honest, I'd try to shorten it up... go 30.5 heck try 30 even so it feels enough different you can get used to the new normal.

Wish I could watch you shoot and see your arm position... but I would shorten up and relearn that before I tried to swap eyes. it is possible, but not easy by any means

I have a pse freak that can go down to 29 I believe. I switched from a Bowtech Guardian with a 30.5" draw. I anchor my knuckle of my pointer finger at the base of my ear. (with my strap release) One thing I did consider was trying to adjust my anchor.

NOOOOO!!!!! LEAVE THAT ANCHOR POINT ALONE!!!!

Try a shorter one... play with it, I don't like the idea of the moving that anchor point add more arm bend first... curious about the thumb release but ehh... try it, it wont add any length

Yes I shot a bow for 30 years right handed. I am left eye dominate and shoot traditional. I switched to left handed and I am more accurate. Will also allow you to shot both eyes open with a compound if you are left eyed

just the opposite. Shot lefthanded for many, many years. Switched to righty and in about a week of shooting, felt completely comfortable.

Of course, right master eye is why I changed. You will be crossing them up.

Your saying if I shoot right handed and I'm left eye dominant I can shoot both eyes open?

as a person who shoots left eye and right handed... if you do this, there will be two pins and two targets floating around...

Only if you use the blinder I posted in my previous answer.. But Yes.. it can be done

By the way... these don't block your straight ahead vision they only cover the eye in a shooting position... great invention for those who shoot off-eyed.. works for rifle, handgun and shotgun as well.
