    Gout

Anyone else deal with it, and if so whats the best way? Been up all night with my first flair up... debating on how much meds I can take and not shut down my organs. Should be an interesting day working at Cabelas.

Go to the doctor and get some endomethicin to knock it out and allopurinol to take daily and prevent flare ups. If it's bad enough he may give you a steroid shot to help knock it out.

About a year and a half ago I quit dipping and quit drinking diet sodas. I drink mostly water now and I haven't had bad flare up since. I keep my prescription of endomethicin in stock just in case I feel a flare up coming on. I've used it maybe twice since then. You know the day before you flare up and pop a couple of pills and it will knock it out before it gets bad.

Doctor will give you a list of foods to avoid. Follow that, Get exercise. Sorry, I'm not much help for your immediate problem, but in the meantime try to smile. You work at Cabela's.

Yep, the pill. If you're getting them really often, you'll have to get on the maintenance drug. I agree with only drinking water, I think that helps more than anything. I just do the endo when I feel it coming on, only get 5-6 flare ups a year. Also, if your on blood pressure meds that have a diuretic in them, that can make it worse.

I'm on no meds and drink 90% water the rest being pop and tea. This is my first flair up but my dad has it often. From what I've read its mainly because I'm fat and eat a lot of red meat. Will be hard to change but I can do it. And yes working at Cabelas is fun! Thanks for the info guys fixing to call the doc now.

Yep, red meat, seafood and booze set it off for me. I take Allapurinal (sp?) daily.

The drugs mentioned above do help me. The best thing for me is to drink lots of water. Go to Dr. it's a tough thing to have. Indomethacin started making me feel odd and forgetful but it does knock out gout, I get by on preventative.

2 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar w/ 1 cup water 2x/day.

A quarter of people with gout believe natural remedies can treat the disease. There is no evidence that drinking apple cider vinegar for gout is beneficial.

I have suffered gout for many many years. There is no pain like that, it just seems to not stop. I have been off of Allopurinol for over a year now. I stopped drinking anything called soda. Diet or regular, it is the devil especially diet soda. To taste one now reminds me of a chemical, because it is a chemical nothing short of toxic!

I don't get traditional gout I get it in all joints. I had my knee drained 7 times. My doctor prescribed the medication, said to avoid certain foods ect. Just getting off of diet soda has slowed my flare ups to maybe one a year. I drink the bottom out of Shiner Bock, love jalapeno cheese summer sausage from Prasek's and love bacon wrapped doves and duck. I drink a gallon of water a day, coffee in the morning and never ever drink sodas anymore. I can feel an attack coming on right now because of the 681 Shiner Bocks I drank in Port O'connor last weekend.

It hurts like hell! Won't say how long since I've had a flare up don't wanna jinx myself. Get on allopurinol! And yes weight and diet is a huge factor. My brother and I both had it, but we lost weight and that help big time!

It sucks. There's been a lot of threads on here about it. I've had it for years but finally got on Allopurinol (daily pill) and keep some Indomethacin handy in case I get a flare up. Been about 3 years without any problems now.

I used to deal with it a lot. Change Drs. and he changed my blood pressure med. No major flare ups since.
