Set it at the distance you're comfortable shooting at. I can tell you I had a mech broadhead fail when shooting through mess. Others will tell you it's fine. One time at a big Buck was one too many. I'm in a pop up as I type this. Using fixed blades now!

Also you could brush it in away from the feeder and just throw out hand corn. I've had success doing that for sure.

I don't know the terrain where you hunt but place it under, inside and behind existing cover whenever possible.

What I mean by this is; if you have good cover such as oaks place it under the canopy and either cut a hole into the under brusb or place it behind underbrush and cut small shooting holes through it. Placing it under the canopy will provide streaks of light and shadows on the blind which greatly aids in camo. Brush all sides and the top.

No matter what you do, a wise old deer will know something is up eventually.....but you may have a few days to get away scott free. You can also generally get away with more over hand corn than placing it directly over the feeder.

One other item to consider is your exit route for evening hunts.

One last thing, place the blind west of the feeder or hand corn, a rare wind for us.

I learned this from Kevin at Heart of Texas and if done right you can be hunting that night.

Handcorn 30-50 yards away from the feeder. Set up pop up blind where you can see both feeder and handcorn. Spray the corn and blind with vanilla. Leave it for a week and hunt.

Brush it in and brush it in well. Pop ups make very nice blinds when you don't have a tree to climb as long as you take your time concealing it as much as possible. They are very hot at times so I started bringing a battery powered fan to the stand with me and turn in on low to combat the heat. Deer don't pay it any attention.

I've set a few up at about 20 yards from the feeder creating shots usually within 30 yards or so. Like others have said take the time to brush it in really well and you will be fine. I wont wear camo in them though. Instead, I wear an all black shirt to better blend in with the inside of the blind. I don't shoot through the mesh either mainly due to the visibility issues it creates during the low light times.

I think placing it under a low hanging limb is one of the best tricks as mentioned above. Seems to hide the fact that basically it's a big lump that they never had seen before.

I wouldn't recommend shooting thru "shoot thru" mesh. I lost a deer that way. I have an Ameristep, they claim "shoot thru" mesh. Nope!! This year I cut one mesh window out. Cut it on three sides, so when I get ready to shoot, I can hang it out of way. I also shoot fixed blade broadheads. My 2 cents.

leave it up so they can get used to it being there. many times a new thing will spook them away. about 25 yds is a good distance. As you get closer to the deer there is a higher likely hood they will smell you even in a popup.

I've had about as much success hunting pop up blinds just putting them beside some brush and not worrying about brushing them in. Wait a couple of days and hunt. Brushed or not the deer are going to be nervous around them for a little while. I have also shot deer out of pop ups that were put out that same day and not brushed in.

I agree! I hunt exclusively out of ground blinds. I've killed 3 mature bucks(6,4,5) in the last 2 years. You can't kill ALL deer out of a ground blind. Some are just not going to accept it. Most of us aren't going to kill the smartest deer in the pasture anyway. I personally think that brushing one in is way more for the hunter than the hunted. Hunting the wind is far more important!

26 yards, this was best spot to "conceal" the blind
