YES!!! McCarthy would be John Boehner v2.0. Conservatives are actually fighting for what Republican voters want this time around. That is awesome. The Freedom Caucus said a day or two ago that they were going to all vote for Daniel Webster. Their 40+ votes would be enough to keep McCarthy from being elected Speaker. They aren't budging, and he knows it, so he's out. Great news.
There are always going to be differences in any party. What we need is a party that is lead by actual conservatives that will fight for and uphold actual conservative principles, whether a few others disagree or not. Politics is not about everybody having the same opinion and singing Kum-By-Yah together. It's about who has the most votes.
They are saying now that if the House can't agree on a successor that John Boehner may have to stay in place until they can agree on someone. Who knows how long that could be.

That might be true, but do you think that true conservatives, whatever the definition may be, are a majority of republicans, or a very loud minority? I'm seriously asking. You have libertarian conservatives, the Christian conservatives, etc. Etc.
In a curious development, Rep. Walter Jones, R-N.C., also sent a letter to House Republican Conference Chairwoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Wash., urging a full vetting of all leadership candidates to avoid a repeat of 1998, when the conference selected then-Rep. Bob Livingston in November to succeed outgoing House Speaker Newt Gingrich. It then emerged Livingston had been conducting an affair. Jones asked that any candidate who has committed "misdeeds" withdraw.
Asked by FoxNews.com to elaborate, Jones said he doesn't "know anything" specific about any of the candidates, but, "We need to be able to say without reservation that 'I have nothing in my background that six months from now could be exposed to the detriment of the House of Representatives.'" He said he wants to make sure the candidates have "no skeletons."
Could any politician in D.C. pass this purity test?

I'm talking about constitutional conservatives. That includes most libertarians and Christian conservatives. They may not agree on one or two issues here and there, but they're not the same animal as the RINO moderates of the big government establishment wing of the party. Constitutional conservatives, in the electorate, are the majority. There are plenty of moderates too, but they're not the majority that the media wants us to believe. The media wants us to believe that the middle of the road-to-left-leaning moderates must be bowed down to if the Republican party is ever going to see any success. That's a lie. It's been proven false in all of the elections over the last several years when the establishment's ideas were followed.
