Gun control freaks are the only ones that will benefit from this situation, no matter what the facts are.
I know a lot of retail establishments tell their employees to not even follow a shoplifter past the front door, and definitely do not try to apprehend them. With the given info (and I'm sure it's already been twisted to some degree, by the media) the woman had no business pulling her weapon.
My take on "theft" is nothing I own is worth a mans/womans life. I don't carry to keep my personal belongings safe. I carry to keep my family and myself safe. That being said I would like to "think" I would have the courage to keep some one else safe in the event I was around when something was happening that I felt was going to end with death or serious bodily injury. I by no means know without a doubt that I would or even could and I believe that no man/woman knows for sure until they are put into that situation. Just my .02.
I agree with you.
My dog on the other hand will bite you on the face for stealing and I love my dog so I guess it is a 50/50 chance someone takes if they want to steal from my place
Not a good shoot. (if story is as told.)
IF the thief stole the last shopping cart that rolled straight without looking and sounding like a 1980's Buick Riviera with air bags on it.. then MAYBE it was justifiable.

I guess my thoughts on my dogs are that I don't own them. They on the other hand are pretty sure they own my wife and my son.... I will also say that if some one was to try to do harm to my son or my wife said dogs will eat there face....Me on the other hand the dogs would probably have to give it some serious thought as to wether or not it was worth the effort to save me...
I cannot imagine any scenario that justifies what she did even though I hate to rely on the media for correct information. In this case it is difficult to put in your own facts and come up with justification.
Now she is facing up to a year in jail and I'd bet that her CHL is no longer valid and her gun is no longer in her possession. She is lucky that she didn't hit someone and be facing a few years in prison.
Dumb. This is what really gets me about some CHL holders. It is obvious that they did not fully comprehend the material that was issued during the class.

That is definitely worrisome. I've met more than a few people that were this same way.
The good news is if what she did was unlawful, she will go to court and pay the price of her actions. The only thing this reflects poorly on is her decision making abilities.
Knee jerk reactions about "make us gun owners/chl holders look bad" is ridiculous. They already hate us, and nothing will change their minds. you guys are falling for the PC BS.
