    Saftey Harness question

I have not bought a harness before, as I normally hunt tripods or ground blinds. I have since bought a lock on stand, it did not come with a harness. If i go to Academy and buy a harness(HSS or the like) is that all i need to attach to the tree, or is there something else needed? I am aware of relief strap, are these included with harness? Id hate to get to the lease with the harness, climb tree just to realize I didn't buy everything that was needed to safely hunt.

    Thanks!

I don't know for sure if the hss comes with everything or not. But if not, you'll need a lineman belt, a tree strap to hook to once you get in the stand, and a life line, for when your climbing up to your stand. Just read the package and see what it comes with. I know academy sales all of the above listed.

This one for instance, what else would be needed? per your post, lineman belt, tree strap, and life line?

      Edit:

Just found these two, seems to be a better deal?

Yes, the muddy would be a better deal. The one from academy is just the harness, so you'd have to buy all the listed above separate.

Get a safety line from HSS or make your own. Attach it to your tree so you have be attached at all times when ascending and descending. Attach the line just above your head when standing. When you sit down it should be a little snug.

You want to set it this way in the event you fall out. This will keep you above the platform and seat. Allowing you to recover.

I use the HSS safety line and the Fall Guy retractable line.

They should have the HSS with everyone you need. Just look on the package it'll tell you. But like mentioned, Harness, Lineman, and Lifeline. That'll cover you from Ground to Stand.

My HSS came with everything I needed in the package. Really light weight and comfortable too

I saw a commercial in the last couple of days for a safety harness that was a pair of pants with suspenders and safety system all in one. Can't remember the name of it and a quick google revealed nothing. I use an HSS 3XL (I'm well over 350). I had to order it from HSS and it came with everything. Whatever you do, use some kind of harness.

It came with the relief strap and the stuff to attach to the tree. Did not have a climbing line (not sure the technical name).

I have the regular Muddy Safeguard harness. I bought it end of last season and need to put it up. Its real lightweight and non intrusive. Just make sure when you wear it, that you cinch up those leg straps. Last thing you want is slack there and you to fall and a strap catches the boys. Your body weight, thin strap, your junk.....doesn't come out pretty. You want to be comfortable, but keep the legs snug, that is what is going to support all your weight when you fall. The top can be a little more comfortable, but don't wear it loose either. Just use common sense and read the instructions. Muddy's instructions are pretty good. Mine came with the lineman belt/rope and the tree strap, but not a lifeline for climbing up to the stand from the ground. I need to pick up one of those myself.
