    AKC Hunt test HELP?

I'm new to the hunt test scene so here is my question. I know she needs 4 passes to get her junior title. If my dog has never run a junior test and I take her to a hunt test, how many possible passes can she get in one weekend hunt test...just one? or is each day seperate and she can get 2 passes at one hunt test?

hopefully this makes sense to someone!!

She can get 1 pass per day so 2 possible pass in a weekend. She needs to complete one land and one water retrieve to get a pass. AKC requires steady on the line I think and the distances are 100m if I'm not mistaken.

I haven't run any AKC hunt tests but just ran my Brittany in a UKC/HRC started test. I had a blast and enjoyed meeting a lot of good people. Be sure to get there early for the judges meeting. They should explain everything they want to see and show you exactly how it's supposed to be done.

Rex- before I entered my german wirehaired pointer in his first hunt test, I found it helpful to just walk along in the gallery for a day. It's been over a dozen years ago, so hopefully somebody will correct me if it's no longer allowed. But back then anybody who wanted to watch could follow along on foot as long as they stayed behind the handlers of the dogs being tested, and didn't interfere with the test in any way. Watching the Master Hunters really gave me something to aspire to!

Most clubs hold a junior test both Saturday and Sunday making 2 passes possible in 1 weekend. Once you pass junior, most senior and master tests are 1 per weekend. You can occasionally find a double senior but it is the exception rather than the norm.

The guy that is training my lab suggested that I send her. She is only 10 months old, I just thought she was too young! He is going to run her during the tests. It will be fun to watch and then I can run her next time.

I got my last pass for JH on my lab when she was 10 months. I am sure she will do great! Good Luck, let us know how she did!
