So I got this German shorthair pup at 8 weeks old and just starting him on quail. He's 17 weeks now and am working with him on pen raised quail. First bird dog I've had. Idk how he's supposed to be progressing by now but at 17 weeks old he's pointing and retrieving the quail! Not gun shy at all! Even when the bird flys up he stays back until the bird falls! I only put one quail in a pasture and let him find it and point it and shoot it down for him and he looks for another once I get the bird from him. I end with one because he's young and don't want to bore him and end it on a good note. Since I'm new to the pointers can yall that have them give me advise on when to start doing more than one bird at a time?
