    Hunt or not?

Right now we have a good East wind 5mph. This afternoon is calling for N NW 5mph. Terrible for my setup. So should I hunt and setup in the brush southeast of the feeder or give it a rest? Deer come in from the North and East.

Should have already placed a pop-up for this but didn't.

I think you'll be ok if you have some good scent protection. Wouldn't hurt to rest it though!

Yesterday was my first hunt and although forecast called for North I had a solid west wind. No deer showed but a hog did. He stayed 10 seconds and hauled off. That was with a scent protection as well.

If you are after one particular mature deer, I would wait for better conditions. Just my opinion. If that is your only option to bowhunt, you can always hop in a gun blind and scout.

Let it rest if you can...don't want to push the deer the first week of the season.

I have a gun/cross bow blind set up 30 yds southeast. Perfect for this situation but I use a compound. FIL uses crossbow. If the windows were a tid bit larger I could bowhunt from it. Its set up on a 5' platform. I am tempted to setup underneath it.

Guess the FIL can go shoot him. Lol

play the wind. Ive seen more deer from the ground because i had to call an audible then stay in the stand. saw a deer each time to be exact.

Wind stayed out of the North which was good. No luck however I did get to watch my target deer. They stayed 275 yards away out in the pasture under a big oak tree. Acorns must have fallen from it. Going to keep an eye on the tree the rest of the week and may set up near it this wknd if they keep hitting it.
