    Shooting Distance Question

    Hello GS,

I have a question, and please forgive my ignorance.

I have a 15' leaner and it is 25 yards to the feeder. How many yards is the actual shot when i am sitting at the top of the stand.

    Thank,
    Nick

25 yards. Gravity causes the same drop when you're 15' up vs on the ground. Complicated physics, but this is what all the rangefinders with angle comp do. They figure out actual horizontal distance. Aim like a normal 25 yard shot and you should be on the money. But, make sure you bend at the waist so that your form is correct, as bending only at the shoulder causes form problems and bad shots

As you will see by the different answers, no need to ask forgiveness

You guys are doing your math wrong. Its 15 feet, not 15 yards.
                (5*5)+(25*25) = 650

                square root of 650 = 25.49

my bad... used Pythagorean theorem, but used 15 instead of 5.... sorry folks... 25.49 is correct. basically negligible

Regardless of height, you just need to know the horizontal distance.

This is why you aim low even on uphill shots.

Range it from the bottom of the tree. That is the distance you should aim for.

Thanks Guys! This helps alot. Range finder from the base of the tree is 25 yards. So i should be good!

                            Thanks,
                            Nick

If you don't bend at the waist, your shot will be a bit high--maybe 3-4"--at least that's my experience.
