    Arrows in the Bailout Plan

"Also buried in the plan are numerous other tax breaks, including doing away with a 39-cent excise tax on makers of wooden arrows designed for children as well as tax breaks for movie producers and stock-car racetrack owners."

These had a lot to do with the financial crisis.

Apparently it's really in there, I was just reading about it. From what I gather there is an excise tax on hunting arrows that is used to fund wildlife projects (news to me, but that's the story). Problem is, under the law as written even kids "toy arrows" were hit with the tax. Reversing that seems like a good idea but how it found it's way into a "hurry-up bill" that's supposed to save us from financial ruin is anybody's guess. The original bill that Paulsen/Bush offered up was four pages long. The one being voted on now is 400 pages. Business as usual....

If they have the time to attach all of this other junk, then is this truly an "act now or else" problem? I am curious how many of the folks ratifing and voting will financial benefit from all of this.

Nope, no joke. Looks like they are also adding on allowing states with no income tax to continue to claim a standard deduction on their federal tax returns for sales/local taxes. This is good news for us Texans, but didn't need to be part of this.
I dream of a world where they can vote on an issue on it's own merits, and not do this type of nonsense. I guess it will never happen.

That is how the government gets itself in debt.

All of the riders that are attached to EVERY BILL.

Every good bill has a ton of B/S added to it and it all adds up.

The Democrats stuck these items into the Bill to gain Republican ratification. There was so much dissension between parties to pass the core bill, they had to add more into the package, to get a passing vote.

Talk about a bunch of freaking kids wanting their way in the sandbox!!!!!!

I haven't had the time to read all 451 pages, but if your curious you can see the entire bailout plan here: http://freepdfhosting.com/16d96dd8b2.pdf. (Well, that was the bailout plan as of Oct. 1 at 11 a.m., and it seems like this thing changes daily.)

I love the $500 million movie and film industry provision in the Senate bill. What a crock! Although, it would be worth it if they used it to put a bounty on Michael Moore.

They can't do anything without pork. Term limits is right Bill.
