walk to stand in dark not using flashlight

    Who else does this?

Word of advice, if you see a white bushy "plant", stop and slowly back up. It could be a skunk. Happened 2x to me this morning. Luckily there was enough moon light that I saw it before it was too late.

For the most part I walk in and out without a light. I do have a red light on my bow though so when I think I see something I can quickly shine ahead and see what it is.

I walk to the stand in the dark and enjoy it. I like the quiet and solitude.

I use a green kill light to walk in and out if I need it.

Not anymore for me after reading about the bow to neck injury caused when tripping on opening morning. (another thread on here)

I'll be using red at least from now on.

I guess any skunks I see will be red bushes?

If there are critters to worry about then a light would be good sense. Green and red lights hardly bother animals. I use a green head lamp.

I use a green light. I had a doe walk straight to me with in about 15 yrds with the light shinning right on her.
I think a lot of the time we over think styff. Scent , metal on metal sound and movement are what spooks deer the most.

I use a regular flashlight and get there early. This year will be a little different, it's over 10 miles from camp to my stand over some pretty rough country.

Don't worry bout them skunks. It's the perfect cover scent.

I don't know about walking to the stand in the dark but my weirdest moment lately in the dark was unloading Black Angus cows in the dark. Went to the cow sell last weekend. Ddidn't get to the pasture until after 9ish. Was kind of scary driving/walking through the pasture in the dark then unloading in the pen. Hard to see Angus cattle when its pitch dark.

Nope! Got to have illumination, I've got to much girly man in me, skunks and snakes aren't the problem, I hate the old spider web in the face.
