I plan to ask for a refund on the sensor anyway. I am not sure that I want the reflash as it lowers the regen temperature to save the sensors. That means more frequent regens and an overall drop in fuel mileage. Did you see a drop in mpg after the reflash?
No, there was not a drop in mileage. The flash actually fixes the shut down if one sensor shows hot and the others report normal.

And yes it also reduces the regeneration Temps but I saw no increase in frecency. Pretty much the same except the shift points changed slightly.

Also if I remember correctly the flash was aplicable to all '11 through early '15 F250/F350 with 6.7.

My Egt went out about 2 weeks after the flash. I was lucky and able to still drive my truck to get it fixed. They replaced all mine at 85k under warranty.

Your 2012 has the recall on it, if it had been done it would not have died on you. The reflash will make your life a lot better I promise!

Well,I specifically asked if the sensors were recalled and the service manager said no, they had extended the warranty on them through at least November 30 with unlimited mileage, but my truck was not subject to a egt sensor related recall.. He was very careful to explain that if I had bad sensors and brought the truck in to them, there would not be a charge for the replacements for the bad ones. No offer at all to replace any or ll of them if they cheked good. He did not say that the labor was also free. He did say that there was a fuel related recall that I needed to take care of.

I intend to call a smaller dealer that is closer to home on Monday and see if the story changes. I would like the reflash to give me a limp mode but some people are posting on the powerstroke forum that it will cost a mile to a mile and a half in lost fuel mileage.

My reflash didn't cost me any more fuel or affect regents per say, and I monitor/document every tank and regents duration.

It did make the shift points really weak to the point of annoying until the tranny "relearned" my driving style- whatever that entails.

I didn't noticed a 1 mpg drop due to new more aggressive tires, but not the reflash so much.

There are some horror stories out there though, your caution is not without merit. It seems some trucks take it just fine and others turn into headaches, nothing a tuner and delete kit can't cure though.

I am a service mgr at a ford store, the reflash recall is to deal with the pull over safely issue, egt sensors do have an extended coverage recall on them and he is correct that he can only replace them as they go bad, the labor is included in the recall. They probably will not refund you for the sensor, as the recall came out before you had the issue. The reflash is a good deal, done it on hundreds of trucks with no adverse effects. The stop safely now message and the stalling can be very dangerous if you are in a bad spot. That's the reason I would highly recommend the reflash.

So I need to drive my truck to the dealer, put the old sensor back in, and ask them to fix it. That way the one that I bought will be my spare.
I paid about fifty dollars for the part. Towing the truck to the dealer would have cost more than that.

Thanks for the definative information. Had the service manager in San Angelo explained about the reflash recall I probably would have fixed the sensor then drove across town for the reflash.

Sorry you had trouble, they are In my opinion the best trucks Ford has ever built and the best on the road. These sensors have been about the only thing that consistently goes wrong with them!

Is there a quick and dirty way to tell if my 6.7 truck has been reflashed?

My truck was part of Enterprise subsidiary Donlen rental fleet for oilfield companies. It has been recertified for GVWR...and I was surprised that the truck weighs four tons but can only carry one ton.

I had to change over from a 2011 2500HD Chevy to anything else. I love my Chevy but the offset driver centerset of the Chevy is KILLING my back.

Let me guess. A buzzing or humming under the hood after you kill it..

Very annoying.. Mash the break and it will quit. lol

Easy fix they have an updated waste gate vacuum harness that will
Fix the buzzing noise. About an 1/2 hour job to install it.

You are correct. Happens when walking away after locking truck. Pushing brake does make it quit. I now hear it humming quietly under the hood.
