    Covert Newbie Question

Which is better- using the 6v solar panel and lithium batteries or using a 6v - 12v converter and hooking up a 12v battery? I guess I can also hook up a solar panel to that 12v battery as well.

Just trying to get the best bang for my buck and and not take up too much space.

Not sure the new ones can be used with outside batteries?

I just got one and seem to remember something on the inside of the camera?

One thing I know if YOU SHOULD NOT use a solar panel with alkaline batteries, only rechargables

Put rechargeable AAs inside the camera and use their solar panel. Mine has been out for 10 months running strong with this setup.

I'm in the same boat. I have one arriving today and was also thinking about using that cable with a 12 volt batter and solar panel. The guys at support told me it would work and would last longer than the 6 volt with solar panel.

                WOW NO WAY?

How many pics per day do you get? The batteries stay at 7-9 at all times? WHat brand batteries?

I am using the moultrie feeder powerpanel with rechargeables and they last 4-5 weeks before needing to be recharged!

10 months on just rechargeable with a solar panel? wow that's a long time. I thought it was more like a month or two on rechareables alone even with solar panel.

I just ordered the panel from trailcam pro.com. They said to run with lithium for 20,000 pics.

This right here... Use NiMh rechargeables... NiCad's won't keep up too well if the camera is mounted somewhere other than in direct sunlight. NiMh batteries charge faster and have higher capacity.

I put mine out Labor Day weekend and that sucker has been sending me pics steady since, literally hundreds, maybe a thousand by now and the battery indicator is still showing full charge. I just put those Dura-Cell copper top standard batteries in mine.

I use regular ol' batteries and mine is lasting about 2-3 weeks. I need to go to a rechargeable-type system and solar panel.

for those who are getting months on your camera batteries, what time delay are you using on your photos?

Weird. I have had my NIMH's in for 5-6 months total and now they wont hold a charge over 7 which is to be expected I think. They will last 2-3 weeks before I need to recharge them BUT I have it on a 30 second delay and get 100 pics a day.

It is also in direct sunlight and still cant keep up.

I would assume yall have a lot less pics being taken?
