Cornyn and McConnell need to go

It has become increasingly clear to me that Cornyn is just another career politician that is beholding to the party leadership rather than to the people of Texas. Time for us to get someone else. Just like the rest of the "establishment" Republicans, his only focus is to maintain the status quo so that his income and position are not upset.
The Senate Republicans put forth a separate bill to defund planned parenthood and hold a vote, knowing that it won't pass, just so they can thump their chests and claim to have voted against funding planned parenthood.
In reality, they don't have the b@!!$ for a fight and won't send anything to make the white house back up their threat. What a bunch of nutless Pu$$!@$.

Harry Reid is still running the Senate.

So what happens when the Tea Party becomes the establishment, like in the Texas Senate? Do they step down from office to avoid becoming career politicians?

If they stay working for us rather than K street there's no need. Though the old adage "Power corrupts" might indicate that either there is a need for the blind justice of term limits or the vigilance of the voters to keep them honest and remove them when needed.

BTW, the Cruz speech last night on the Senate floor (without a teleprompter) runs just short of an hour and is must see TV.

Ever hear the saying, "choose your battles carefully?" I think this is what Cornyn does. Why use up all your ammo, political capital in this case, when you know you cant win? The only way the Senate can pass anything the dems don't like is to change the rules that require 60 votes to end debate. While possible, such a rule change sets a scary precedent should the dems ever gain a majority in the Senate. On top of this, Obama will veto any defunding of planned parenthood. There is absolutely no possibility of overriding the veto. Defunding planned parenthood will have to wait until we have a Republican in the Whitehouse.

I did everything in my power to defeat John (RINO) Cornyn last time around. I sure hope enough Texans wake up to the fact that he is NOT good for Texas and is only out to line his own pockets when it's time for him to be re-elected again! Him, McConnell, Graham, all peas in the same pod! And they are wormy to the core!

You're falling for the establishments' standard line of "woe is me", BS.

"We can't do anything without a majority in the house". Then, "We can't do anything without a majority in the senate". Well, we gave them both, and they still won't stand up to fight for anything that we the voters, sent them there to do, based on their campaign promises.
They just continue to cower with their political tails, between their legs, trying to protect their own little corner of power and money. Now it's, "We can't do anything without a republican in the white house".

It will never change, until we elect some real conservatives, with a backbone (like Cruz), that are willing to fight the good fight, no matter what the pre-supposed outcome is thought to be, and they make the present occupant of the white house, actually veto some of the very bills, that he threatens to, but doesn't have to, since they won't even pass and send them to his desk.

This sounds an awful lot like, play only "My" way or I will take my ball and go home so nobody can play. Not everything is negotiable but most things in government can be. Generally, one issue positions are not conducive to fair resolutions.

Harry Reid did that already. That's how they passed Obamacare. I couldn't care less what the Democrats cry and whine about. There is absolutely NO reason to treat them with kid gloves. They won't return the favor, regardless of what the Republicans do or don't do.

On Cornyn....he talks a good game, but he's an establishment sellout when it really matters.

I'm not falling for any BS. Our government was designed to make it difficult to change things. Any change has to be supported by a majority in both houses and by the president or at least by a super majority in both houses. This is intentionally not easy to do. Often no change is better than than a change. I don't understand why so many people fail to see this.

The fact that many republicans weren't smart enough to know that a slight majority in the Senate still doesn't allow you ram things through is there own fault. I'll go so far as to say the biggest problem with our government is we are forced to rely on voters who aren't smart enough to understand what, or who, they are voting on or for.

And by the way, the next speaker of the house will almost certainly be Kevin McCarthy from California. Do you think he is a "true conservative?" Not. At least he won't be crying on camera all the time.

I'm a bit with treestand on this one. As long as we keep sending folks to Washington, they'll have to play by Washington "rules." Conservative principles turn my crank, but they don't stand a chance in DC. There aren't enough of us to overtake the other positions. If we want conservative principles to rule the nation, it's not going to happen. Cruz, etc. are right more than they are wrong, but they're in a system where they'll never, ever win, IMO. They'll always be on the outside of the main parts of the process where the work gets done. Having their voice heard is good, but that's all they'll ever be, just a voice for reason in the midst of unreasonable processes.

If you want to see a true conservative government, maybe look at Texas independence, because it isn't going to happen in DC.

Yes sir, they need to go. And it can be done one bad apple at a time and keep throwing them out until the barrel is empty of the bad apples and full of integrity once again.
